DAVIS, Mr. Earl Lavon, 84, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016. Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, October 12, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sardis with Elder William Hendrix officiating. Interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Foster Lavon and Essie Lee Beasley Davis, two sisters, Rocine Davis and Maxine Davis, and two brothers, Waverly O. Davis and Baby Davis. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda W. Davis, four children, Demea (Buddy) Mercer, Lavon (Wronda) Davis, Ryan Davis, and Brooke (Chris) Smith, eleven grandchildren, Lea Harrod, Stan Mercer, Charlie Posey, Nikki Davis, Morgan Davis, Eryn Davis, Jackson Davis, Braeden Smith, Raegan Davis, Bryson Smith, and Benjamin Smith, one great-grandson, Eli Mercer, and brother, Edward (Ann) Davis. Active pallbearers will be Ronald Davis, James Blackwelder, Danny Register, Jerry Williamson, Robert Duffell, William Roper, and Drew Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Shelton, Claude Cone, A.E. Bennett, Daniel Joe White, Charles Gillion, Terry Lowe, and Joel Sipper. The family requests that any memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s choice. They will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 1 – 2pm.
