Edith Defee Smith

SMITH, Mrs. Edith Defee, 68, a resident of Lapine, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 17, in New Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Horn officiating. Interment will follow in New Ebenezer Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Mary Benton Defee, and three brothers. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Charlie G. Smith, two children, William G. (Jenny) Smith and Amelia S. Wilkinson, three grandchildren, Garrett Smith, Will Smith, and Grant Wilkinson, two sisters, Carolyn Moore and Betty Mauldin, and two brothers, Jeff (Darline) Defee and Joe (Patty) Defee. Active pallbearers will be Lamar Thomas, Doug Brown, Harold Russell, Mike Dunn, Cline Tidwell, and Matthew Davis. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10 – 11 AM.
