MASON, Mrs. Elgie Lee Gunter, 94, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Dr. Clyde M. Northrop officiating. Interment will follow in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Mason was preceded in death by her husband, Alton A. Mason; son, Jerry G. Mason; grandson, Steve Mason; daughter-in-law, Barbara Bush Mason; parents, Lodic H. and Annie Laura Dodie Gunter; six sisters, Lila Gunter, Mollie Tadlock, Willa Bell Murphy, Florence Copeland, Thelma Norton, Inez Northrop; and three brothers, Quincy Gunter, Felder Gunter, and Julian Gunter. She is survived by three children, Suzette (Ken) Helms, Jimmy (Reba) Mason, and Tony (Jenny) Mason, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Her grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. The family requests that any memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, the Luverne Emmaus Cemetery Fund, or one’s favorite charity. They will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9am until service time.
