Elizabeth Ruth Dickinson

March 14, 1921 — November 7, 2016

DICKINSON, Mrs. Elizabeth Ruth Milton, 95, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, formally of Prattville, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 7, 2016. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, November 10, at Sardis Church of Christ in Highland Home, Alabama. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Prattville at 2 PM with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Dickinson worked as a practical nurse at Prattville General Hospital for many years before becoming an employee of Woodley Manor Nursing Home. She retired from South Haven Manor Nursing Home as a practical nurse on August 5, 1977. She was awarded a plaque presented to her by Governor George C. Wallace for her contribution to the community as a nurse. She was also given the honorary rank of Lt. Col. in the Alabama Militia by Gov. Wallace. She began to attend the services of the Sardis Church in 1985 and she loved and appreciated her church family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey “Red” Dickinson, and her son, William “Billy” Dickinson. She is survived by her son, Dr. John M. (Daisy) Dickinson of Highland Home, daughter, Laura D. (Houston Joe) Fuller of Prattville, five grandchildren, H.J. (Patsy) Fuller, Jr., Kimberly F. (Joey) Douglass, Steven W. (Stefanie) Fuller, Teena D. (Jeff) Shepherd, and Andrew M. (Amber) Dickinson, eight great-grandchildren, her sister, Thelma Whaley of Callahan, Florida, her brother, Gene (Audrey) Milton of Troy, Alabama, and many more relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Andy Dickinson, Steve Fuller, Joey Fuller, Jeff Shepherd, Mike Barlow, and Donald White. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the church from 10 – 11 AM.
