Elizabeth Faye Trotter

Mrs. Faye Lawrence Trotter, 82, a resident of Dothan, Alabama and formerly of Petrey, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Southeast Health in Dothan on Thursday, March 31st, 2022. Funeral services for Mrs. Trotter will be held at 2 PM on Monday, April 4th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Brother Danny Rolling officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday for one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Trotter was born and raised in Petrey, where she also attended Petrey School for her early education. She later transferred to Luverne High School and graduated as the salutatorian of the Class of 1957. She would later attend Troy State University to earn her Bachelor's in Secondary English and Mathematics Education. Mrs Trotter always felt she was born to teach, even turning down a job at IBM following college so that she could pursue her dream. She spent the next 39 years of her life as a dedicated high school teacher in area schools with her last 24 years spent at Goshen High School. She was a stable, guiding force in the lives of so many of her students, and she leaves behind a legacy of influence in the lives of hundreds of others.

Mrs. Trotter's family was one of the founders of the Church of Christ in Petrey, and she was a lifelong member there until it closed. She taught Sunday School there for a good portion of her life, providing a solid basis in Biblical knowledge to carry them through life. In her free time, she loved to travel and solve puzzles, as well as being an avid reader. She was especially a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who cherished her family dearly. She displayed tremendous strength and resilience after losing her husband far too soon. She was certainly loved beyond measure and will be greatly missed by all those she leaves behind.

Mrs. Trotter was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Trotter, and parents, James Eddie & Ora Lee Garner Lawrence. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Trotter & Ricky Dean; granddaughter, Abby Dean; sister, Elaine (William) Hawkins; nephew, Matthew (Karla) Bundy; nieces, Maria (Kevin) Grant & Lee (Sonny) Tucker; and several great-nieces & great-nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Matthew Bundy, Joshua Bundy, Jacob Bundy, Kevin Grant, Brooks Grant, and Brandon Rolling.
