Elna Ruth Allen

Mrs. Ruth Sexton Allen, 86, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 25th, 2022. A graveside service for Mrs. Allen will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 29th, in Sardis Cemetery with Brother Jack Cates officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Allen was a woman who loved with her whole heart, whether it be her Lord, her family, or her friends. She was a proud graduate of Greenville High School before giving birth to her beloved daughter, Debbie. She later met the love of her life, her husband Fred, and they set off on adventures as they traveled the country together while working for North American Van Lines. Later, Ruth and Fred settled back down in Highland Home in the late 1980s, and Ruth went to work for Mr. Jimmy Wilson at Super Foods of Luverne. She started off in the meat market and always thoroughly loved her job until her retirement. She also performed bookkeeping and prepared taxes for her community for many years. Later in life, Ruth and Fred began attending Davenport Church of Christ, where they made wonderful friends and many lasting relationships with their new church family. Above all, Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed more than words can properly express.

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Raymond Allen; daughter, Debra Godwin Kizziah; parents, Willie Robert Sexton & Virgie Mae Buck Cooper; and siblings, Thomas Edward Sexton and Betty Frances Patterson. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Jamie Ruth Boyd, Jared Ross Boyd, and WesLee Blake Massey, and her sister, Phyllis Sexton Carmichael.

Active pallbearers will be Jared Boyd, Stanley Boyd, Chad Horne, Blake Massey, W.L. Massey, and Bruce Sexton. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Bowen and Carlton Carmichael.

Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at service time.
