Elwood Eugene Farris

FARRIS, Mr. Elwood Eugene, 84, a resident of Petrey, AL died Tuesday December 3, 2013. Funeral services will be 11 am Friday December 6, 2013 at Petrey United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandy Smith and Rev. Cliff Colb officiating. Interment will follow in Petrey Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Farris was a member of Petrey Methodist Church and served on the Petrey City Council for over 9 years. He was also one of the founding members of the Northeast Crenshaw Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Farris is preceded in death by a daughter, Darda Stephenson; grandson, David Stephenson; parents, Elza and Edith Farris; three sisters, Lavon Williams, Shirley Chandler and Mary Lynn Poland; and a brother, Dale Farris. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Cruz Farris; five children, Jerry Farris, Terry Farris, Lillian (Michael) McGeehon, Eddie Barrera and Michelle (Sandy) Smith; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and a brother, Edward A. Farris. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 10am until service time.
