Emily Adams White, 83, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama and formerly of Highland Home, passed away unexpectedly at Baptist Medical Center South on Monday, September 15th, 2025. Funeral services for Emily will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 17th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Irvin officiating. She will then be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in New Ebenezer Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service.
Emily's greatest spiritual gift was her boundless generosity. Like Jesus commanded, she was always quick to reach out to help someone she knew was in need and often did so without being asked and without even letting them know it was her. She was just such a loving and caring person that she brightened the lives of everyone she came into contact with. She also had such a zest for life, even after spending 26 years working for the State of Alabama as an administrative assistant. In her retirement years, she enjoyed indulging in one of her favorite pastimes as an avid Alabama fan (and football fan in general), traveling to many of the games throughout the southeast and beyond. And you better believe, she took her mama's lessons to heart and never left her house without looking her absolute best!
In 2015, Emily left Highland Home following her husband's death for Montgomery so she could be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was "MeMe" to the grandchildren who were the absolute light of her life and, even in her 80s, she was still making sure to attend as many of their sporting events, church events, college graduations, and all of their fun family gatherings. Never doubt that they all loved her back with equal adoration and devotion, and cherished every moment they were blessed to spend together. Words could not properly express how large the hole her loss leaves behind, but they will certainly keep her vibrant spirit and the memory of her love alive in their hearts for many more years to come.
Emily was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Alford H. White; parents, Roy & Jessie Crenshaw Adams; and brother, Timmy Adams. She is survived by her cherished children, Byron White and Lisa (Travis) Taylor; grandchildren, Mary Emily (Casey) Baynes, Payton Taylor, and Allie Claire Taylor; siblings, Eileen Bennett, Aaron (Janice) Adams, Ann Murphy, and Kim (Wayne) Smith; siblings-in-law, Benny White, Daniel Joe (Faye) White, and Nobie Beasley; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Bennett, Adam Bennett, Casey Baynes, Andrew Buser, Doug Brown, Mike Dunn, Jason Ogletree, and Chase White.
