Mr. Ernest Herman “Pete” Cauthen, 71, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Funeral services for Mr. Cauthen will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 16, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Brother Chuck Ford officiating. Interment will follow in Cauthen Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Pete will be dearly remembered as a loving son, brother, and uncle. He was also much-beloved in his community for his outgoing personality because he never met a stranger.
Mr. Cauthen was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys McColy Cauthen and Gury Mae McCullough; stepfather, Cecil McCullough; and his nephew, Tracy Dale McCullough. He is survived by his three siblings, Stella Cauthen, Dale (Elizabeth) McCullough, and Ray (Paula) McCullough; his nieces and nephews, Van McKenzie, Shannon (Leann) McKenzie, Cedric (Tonya) McKenzie, Craig McCullough, Shane (Daisy) McCullough, Chad (Trish) McCullough, Jennifer (Roger Dale) McCullough, Derek (Shae) McCullough, and Miranda (Kevin) Braswell; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family members and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Van McKenzie, Gavin McKenzie, Shannon McKenzie, Cedric McKenzie, Aaron McKenzie, and Chad McCullough. Bryce McKenzie and Matthew Luster will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1 - 2pm.
