STRINGER, Mrs. Eva Ray, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away at her home on Thursday, February 1, 2018 after a long, difficult battle with leukemia. Funeral services for Mrs. Stringer will be held at 2 PM on Monday, February 5, at New Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Hogwood officiating. Interment will follow in New Ebenezer Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Stringer dedicated over 40 years of her life to helping others as a nurse. She was also a real estate agent and the co-executive/co-writer for the Crenshaw County Historical Society. She will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Mrs. Stringer was preceded in death by her granddaughter, DeEtta Wilhelm, parents, “Big” George Jenkins and Rosa Harris McCullough, three sisters, Velma Oats, Ruby Brown, and Edith Mae Freeman, and five brothers, Thomas Jenkins, Erskine O’Neil Jenkins, George Jenkins, Leroy Jenkins, and Leon Jenkins. She is survived by her four children, Mike Stringer, Ronald Stringer, Darryl Stringer, and Dianne (David) Wilhelm, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two brothers, Marvin Jenkins and Willie Mar Jenkins, and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Patricia (Joe) Sexton, and special nephew, Marshall Brown. Active pallbearers will be Daniel Stringer, Harley Stringer, Davy Wilhelm, Dereck Wilhelm, Scott Brown, and Darren Zelgewicz. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 4, from 5 - 7pm.
