Evelyn Williamson Schofield

Evelyn Williamson Schofield, 87, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, peacefully entered her heavenly home on Monday, September 16, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, September 19th, at the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Greg Poff and Josiah Strowd officiating. A private interment will follow in the Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday for one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Evelyn spent her life serving others as she lovingly took care of her husband and three daughters as well as worked as a kindergarten aide for 25 years in the Crenshaw County school system. She was a faithful member of Patsburg Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she served as church secretary. Her faith in the Lord was the most important part of her life.

Mrs. Schofield is preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Clark Schofield; parents, Gay C. and Nola Mae Williamson; her three brothers and sister; and her son-in-law, Bobby Strowd.

Survivors include her daughters, Belinda Strowd, Debbie (Greg) Poff, and Missy (Buck) Hanson; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Brad) Hickman, Jena (Justin) Hester, Josiah Strowd, Jacob (Rebecca) Strowd, Jackson (Raegan) Hanson, Hannah Jo (Jake) Bailey, and Mattie (Luke) Tate; four great-grandchildren, Bradleigh Hickman, Anna Clark Hickman, Luke Hester, and Ann Jackson Tate.

Active pallbearers will include Jacob Strowd, Jackson Hanson, Brad Hickman, Justin Hester, Luke Tate, and Jake Bailey.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to both the caregivers and the staff of SouthernCare Hospice of Greenville for their excellent care of Evelyn in her time of need.
