Flossie Jones

March 29, 1926 — September 6, 2021

Lapine

Mrs. Flossie Flowers Jones, 95, a resident of Lapine, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, September 6, 2021. Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 10th, at Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck Francisco, Rev. Johnny Jones, Rev. Howard Kirkland officiating. Interment will be held in Cool Springs Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Jones learned the value of hard work and how to survive in even the worst circumstances while growing up during the Great Depression. She dedicated her life to raising her family in a loving, caring home. She was a good, Christian woman who truly displayed the love of Christ in her life and to everyone she met. She was a faithful member of Magnolia Baptist Church and Freewill Baptist Church during her life, where she enjoyed spending time with her church family while praising her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In her free time, there were few things Mrs. Jones enjoyed more than spending time outdoors, whether it was tending to her beloved flower garden or fishing. On Saturdays in the fall, she could be found cheering on her favorite team, the Alabama Crimson Tide, to victory. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. There was nothing she loved more on this earth than her family, and they all blossomed in the light of her love. She taught them grace through the many slings and arrows in life, and how to hold on to what is most precious to them. They will all miss her tremendously, though they take comfort in knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven after reuniting with all of those who have gone on before her.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe William Flowers and Rev. James Lewis Jones; her children, Melvin Flowers, Eddie Flowers, Roy Flowers, and Margaret Louise Middlebrooks; parents, John Wesley & Minnie Irene Pouncy Edwards; and her siblings. She is survived by her loving children, Glenn Flowers, Marvin (Lynn) Flowers, Earl (Renee) Flowers, Curtis (Christine) Flowers, Bonnie Flowers, Rev. Johnny (Melanie) Jones, and Jimmy (Sandra) Jones; daughter-in-law, Mila Flowers; sisters-in-law, Ella Kate Arnette and Dorothy Lucille Count; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Arnette, Will Petty, Lee Cook, Lamar Petty, Stanley Boyd, and Scott Lansdon. Steve Williamson and Joey Flowers will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Encompass Hospice for their tender loving care of Mrs. Jones in the twilight of her days.

They will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 9th, from 6 - 8 PM.
