JORDAN, Mr. Foster S., 79, died Friday July 29, 2011 after an extended illness. Mr. Jordan is preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Steven; two brothers, Charles and Randy; and his parents, Richard and Marjorie Jordan. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Carol Jordan; two children, Greg Jordan of Cincinnati, OH and Linda Giacobbe of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren, Jacob, Lelia and Conor Jordan of Louisville, KY, Charlie Jordan of Cincinnati, OH and Lorraine Davies of Richmond, VA; one great grandchild, Jacob Davies of Richmond, VA; one brother, Cecil Jordan of Crewe, VA; and several nieces and nephews. Foster Jordan served in the USMC in Korean, and in the Army Reserves. He retired as a District Manager for Nationwide Insurance in 1985. He was a member of Troy Kiwanis and the Lions Club of Jekyll Island, GA. He was the administrator of Habitat for Humanity in Monroe, LA from 1994-2000. He loved golf and was a master carpenter. He encouraged his wife, Carol, to achieve the PHD and was an ardent supporter of Insurance Education at the university level. During Dr. Jordan’s tenure at Eastern Kentucky University, University of Louisana-Monroe and Troy University, Foster arranged golf scrambles for insurance scholarships, contributed financially to those programs, and was a supportive friend to the many undergraduates coming through those programs. Any friends who wish to remember Mr. Jordan may choose to do so by contributing to the Excellence in Risk Management and Insurance Fund at the Troy University Foundation. By his request, there will be no service or visitation.
