Mrs. Frances Hall Jayroe, 96, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Monday, September 5th, 2022. Funeral services for Mrs. Jayroe will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 10th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Brother Clay Crum officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill South Baptist Church Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Jayroe lived a long and full life, with both joy and sorrow, but always with the grace of a true Southern lady. She excelled at creating a loving, happy home for her family through multiple generations. She was an excellent cook and thoroughly enjoyed preparing homemade meals for the people she loved the most. She spent many years working as a seamstress for local textile factories, and kept up with the bookkeeping for her husband and son's auto repair business as well. In her free time, there was nothing Mrs. Jayroe enjoyed more than engaging her mind. She was an avid reader and an ace at Sudoku. She could often be found enjoying the beauty of the natural world by camping with her family or competing in a game of golf. And as long as she had her purse, she was ready for anywhere you wanted to go! Above all, however, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who knew that her greatest treasure on earth was her family. Her leaving has opened up a hole in all of their hearts, but they will find comfort in the knowledge that, after seeing nearly a century on this earthly plane, she is now safe and happy in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Jayroe was preceded in death by the love of her life, her beloved husband of 77 years, James Tolbert Jayroe; son-in-law, John Volet; great-granddaughter, Leah Volet; parents, Thomas Edward & Virgie Theresa Compton Hall; and siblings, T.E. Hall Jr, Quitman Hall, Dot Vaughn, and Ann Swanner. She is survived by her children, Keith (Sharon) Jayroe and Denese Jayroe Volet; grandchildren, Stacey (Johnny) Jones, Justin Jayroe, Wolff (Jill) Volet, and Jody Volet; great-grandchildren, Zane (Alaina) Jones, Libbey Jones, Lyndsay Volet, Landon Volet, and Laci Volet; siblings, Glenda Watson & Windham Hall; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Justin Jayroe, Wolff Volet, Zane Jones, Johnny Jones, Shaun Swanner, and Ashlee Swanner.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to Big Mamma, Duck, Kimberly, Debra, and Esther, as well as Dr. Patrick Walker, Dr. Charles Tompkins, and the nurses & staff of Crenshaw Community Hospital for their loving care of Mrs. Jayroe in the latter years of her life.
