Frances Griffin Rhodes, 75, a resident of Opp, Alabama and formerly of Luverne, passed away at Flowers Hospital in Dothan on Friday, July 12th, 2024. Funeral services for Frances will be held at 2 PM on Monday, July 15th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Lewis and Sister Patricia Beck officiating. She will then be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Providence Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday for one hour prior to the service.

Frances was everything you could ever want in a grandmother, or "Granny Franny" as her cherished grandchildren so named her. Love was most definitely her middle name as she was one of the most lovable people you could ever be fortunate enough to have in your life. Her heart was as deep and wide as the ocean, and it was plenty big enough for everyone she met. Her gentle and soft-spoken nature made her a warm and comforting support system for all those who loved her, and you better believe she was always available to be there for them no matter what.

There was a limit though to how good-natured she was, and that line was drawn firmly around her kitchen...excuse me, that would be "My Kitchen," as she referred to any she determined were hers exclusively, whether it was her house or not! But, hey, when you could cook as good as Granny Franny, there weren't going to be a lot of objections over whose kitchen it was. Her family absolutely delighted in everything she whipped up in the kitchen, whether it was her collards and scalloped potatoes or her cornbread and biscuits, you knew you were going to get the best food the South has to offer when she was cooking.

When she wasn't in the kitchen or working hard at her job, Franny was most likely going to be tending to her beloved pepper plants and flowers in her bountiful garden. When it came to more leisurely pursuits, she especially enjoyed relaxing with a favorite adult coloring book or catching up on whatever new true crime show she could find on the television. However, one of her favorite things to do was to worship her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with her cherished church family at First Charismatic Baptist Church. She had a heart for the Lord and made sure she treated others with the same love and kindness as Jesus. You could bet that, come Saturday night, she was going to be rolling her hair in preparation for looking her best at church, where she loved to sing her praises as well as teaching her Sunday School classes. Above all, Frances was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (or MeMe) who loved her family with every fiber of her being and they loved her just as fiercely. Words cannot describe how much she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her, but they know she is rejoicing in her reunion with her husband in their heavenly reward.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, William Curtis Rhodes; her parents, Chester Leroy & Annie Merle Mullins Griffin; and sister, Linda Powell. She is survived by her children, Michelle (Don) Moore, Curtis Rhodes, William Rhodes, and Tiffany Rhodes (Adam Sheppard); grandchildren, Steven Gillun, Kevin (Courtney) Williams, Jasmine (Nathan) Mead, Destiny Annalyn Rhodes, Passions Sheppard, and Eli Curtis Rhodes; great-grandchildren, Katlyn Gillun, Jordan Gillun, Jackson Gillun, Nova Gillun, Hannah Rhodes, Kaden Rhodes, and Jenisys Mead; and numerous other family members and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Cam Mitchell, Timothy Rhodes, Larry Moore, Chris Furr, Asa Furr, Adam Sheppard, and Dustin Davis.
