Frances Turman Jayroe

January 6, 1937 — June 4, 2026

Frances Turman Jayroe, 89, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4th, 2026, at Wesley Place in Dothan. Funeral services for Frances will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, June 14th, at Brunson Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Jesse Guffin officiating and Rev. Hunter Pugh delivering the eulogy. Interment will then follow in the church cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing the services. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday for one hour prior to the service.

Frances was a dedicated and empathetic LPN for over 30 years before her retirement. She was blessed with tremendous patience and the milk of human kindness to thrive in her field and have a true impact on the lives of her patients. She was also a lifelong member of Brunson Chapel United Methodist Church where she stayed active and served on several committees during her time there. At home, she was an avid reader who passed her love of books on to her grandchildren by reading to them whenever they were with her. A country girl at heart, there were few things Frances enjoyed more than spending time in the beauty of nature around her home, whether it was gardening, feeding the birds, sitting on her back patio, or simply taking a walk.

Like any good Southern woman, any staple dish that came out of her kitchen was absolutely scrumptious. Her cornbread, greens, and dressing were always family favorites, but her blueberry stack cake was legendary. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and Mima to her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There was nothing she loved more than the time she was blessed to spend with the family she adored with every bit of her heart and soul. She loved when she was able to host them all for big holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas or organize trips together. Every moment spent together was a true gift, and not a one of them ever took it for granted. Comfort will continue to be found in the treasure trove of memories they made together over a lifetime.

Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Terrell Jayroe; parents, Ocie & Lucille Capps Turman; and brother, Charles Turman. She is survived by her children & their spouses, Lou Ellen & Michael Marchman, Scott & Michelle Jayroe, Alan & Teresa Jayroe; grandchildren, Chase (Allie) Marchman, Daniel (Megan) Jayroe, Ashton (Kelley) Jayroe, Matthew Jayroe, and Grace Jayroe; great-grandchildren, Millie Marchman, Cora Jayroe, Addie Jayroe, Hollyn Jayroe, & Collins Jayroe; sister, Jo Ann Ware; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Daniel Jayroe, Ashton Jayroe, Matthew Jayroe, Chase Marchman, John Prescott, Steve Prescott, and Robbie Prescott.

The family requests that any memorial donations be made to the Brunson Chapel Cemetery Fund.

They would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Dayspring Hospice of Dothan for their tender and loving care of Frances.
