Gayle Defee Palmer, 77, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Monday, November 4th, 2024. Funeral services for Gayle will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 8th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Brother Stae Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Berea Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Gayle was a wonderful mother to her boys and loved being a grandmother to her granddaughters. While she loved shopping, she didn't really need a lot to make her happy with life. She could find joy in just simple outings like riding down old dirt roads while listening to her favorite classic country music. She may have been born long before the internet was invented, but she grew to love how she could use social media to keep up with all of her family and friends. Plus, there was the endless entertainment of funny animal videos to brighten any day. Above all, she truly cherished her family and friends with all of her heart and was grateful for every moment they were able to spend together over the years. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by all those who loved her best.
Gayle was preceded in death by her son, Rickey Brantley; former husband, Billy Palmer; parents, Ansley & Doris Reeves Defee; and siblings, Hazel Vogie, Helen Pruitt, Frances Walker, and Roger Defee. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Vivian) Palmer and Josh (Angela) Palmer; grandchildren, Winter Palmer and Rachael Palmer; brother & sister-in-law, Andy & Mae Palmer; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Daniel Palmer, Andrew Palmer, Willie Candill, Brandon Heartsill, and James Bornson.
