George Randall "Randy" Ballard, 64, a resident of Honoraville, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Wednesday, December 20th, 2023. A graveside service for Randy will be held at 2 PM on Friday, December 22nd, in Centenary Cemetery with Rev. Danny Ray Duncan officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.
Randy was remarkably full of life that was infectious no matter where he was or who he was with. He had an outgoing and gregarious personality and loved to spend time with family and friends, just don't take him fishing if you didn't want your ear talked off! Truly though, Randy actually loved fishing, even if he did more talking than catching. He was the youngest of 12 children, and it was obvious how much he had been loved and spoiled as the baby of the bunch. He was famous in the family for not only his sense of humor, but also his ability to simply aggravate them just to get them stirred up. Of course, he only aggravated you if he loved you, so it was a lot easier to take it all with the affection and good humor with which it was intended. Randy was such a kind and generous soul that no one could ever stay mad at him. He had a big, open, and loving heart, and he was always willing to give you anything he had that you needed. He was a bit of a wiz in the kitchen as well, and his homemade soup was by far his best and favorite dish. On Saturdays in the fall, he was definitely going to be cheering on his beloved Crimson Tide on the gridiron. Randy also adored every moment he was able to spend with Diesel, the family Australian Shepherd. Above all, he was a cherished member of his family and words cannot express how much he will be missed for many years to come.
Randy was preceded in death by his son, George Randall Ballard Jr; parents, Irby & Alene Daniels Ballard; siblings, Kenneth Ballard, Edwina Mothershed, Patricia Gregory, Betty Coleman, and Helen Benbow. He is survived by his siblings, June Nichols, Sue Dugger, Becky Rolling, Kay Wilkerson, Shirley Black, and Jim Ballard, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Ralph Wilkerson, Wayne Benbow, Mark Benbow, Pat Gregory, Russell Gregory, Stacy Dugger, and Timmy White.
