Mr. Gerald Winson Kelley, 56, a resident of Lapine, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Jackson Hospital on Thursday, May 7, 2020.
Mr. Kelley exemplified the meaning of hard work in order to take care of his family. In his free time, there were few things he loved more than being involved in sports. He played softball for many years, and later went on to coach youth league football at Highland Home School as well as recreational baseball. He especially enjoyed spending the afternoon on the links with many dear friends at the Crenshaw County Recreational Club. He married the love of his life, Renee Horn in 1982, and they spent 37 wonderful years together, raising their family and fishing. However, no one had his heart like his grandchildren. All of those who knew and loved him will miss him dearly.
Mr. Kelley was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Bonnie & Cecil Posey, and his grandparents, Glenn & Wilsie Kelley and Elbert & Lessie May Harris. He is survived by his loving wife, Renee Horn Kelley; their son and daughter-in-law, Lee & Jessica Kelley; three grandchildren, Lillian Sheffield, Kaydence Kelley, and Kannon Kelley; his father and stepmother, James & Christine Kelley; four siblings, Susan (Kenny Wayne) Frazier, Julie Kelley, Stacey (Keenar) Kelley, and Kevin (Alisha) Posey; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other extended family members and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Lamar Duffell, Ty Cornelius, Richard Jinright, Mike Olive, Chad Horne, and Lavon Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Palmer, Allen McGough, Joey Godwin, and Coach Bill Williamson.
