Gerald Lavon Pittman, 75, of Dozier, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2022 at his residence. Born on February 14, 1947 in Red Level, Alabama, he was the son of George and Eunice Odom Pittman. He met the love of his life, Lynda Palmer, when they were teenagers, and they were married in 1965.
Gerald was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He had an extraordinary quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Everyone who knew him felt his big heart and giving nature. He spent most of his working life in the labor intensive industry of logging, but firmly believed in the philosophy of working hard and playing hard. In his free time, he still loved spending his time enjoying the great outdoors whether it was fishing and hunting or tending his garden. Gerald was truly a miracle walking, surviving a terrible hunting accident when he was young. His determination and drive to live his life to the fullest and always defy the odds was an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him, but they will continue to cherish the lifetime of special memories they made together.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, George & Eunice Odom Pittman, and sisters, Jeanette Kirkland & Agnes Griggs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lynda Palmer Pittman; their daughters, Lisa (Joe) Rainey, Kim (Danny) Smith, and Sandi (John) Bunnicelli; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, with another one on the way; his brother, Dearl Pittman; and several nieces & nephews.
Neither death nor life shall separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
