JOHNSON, Mr. Grady Olen, 69, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held at 2 PM on Monday, September 25, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Baggett and Rev. Jarrod Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Johnson was awarded the Purple Heart during his service with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict. He later served as the Chief of Police in Luverne for several years. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Verbie Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Blair Johnson, two children, Michael (Adrienne) Johnson and Cindy (Stephen) Dukes, six grandchildren, Matthew Lee Johnson, Nathaniel Morgan Dukes, Shelby Samantha Johnson, Christopher Parker Dukes, Brody Keith Johnson, and Sadie Battle, his sister, Geraldine Johnson (Mike) Bigelow, and numerous nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Mike Johnson, Stephen Dukes, Matt Johnson, Nate Dukes, Parker Dukes, Brody Johnson, and the USMC Honor Guard. The family requests that any memorial donations be made to either Goshen Baptist Church or the Providence Cemetery Fund. They will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30 – 2PM.
