Grant Kolten Brown

May 1, 1987 — November 21, 2023

Honoraville

Grant Kolten Brown, 36, a resident of Honoraville, Alabama, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 21st, 2023. A celebration of Grant's incredible life will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, November 26th, at the Big House, 1809 Old Meriweather Trail, Lapine, Alabama 36046.

Grant was the kind of person who just makes the world a better place. Not because of some crazy invention or big research project, but simply by who he was. He was truly all heart and, unlike the Grinch, his heart was three sizes too BIG for his small frame. There was nothing he wasn't willing to do, no bridge he wasn't willing to cross to help out someone in need. Like a friend said, he would give you the skin (not just the shirt) off of his back if that's what it took. He found joy in making other people happy throughout his life. It didn't matter if you were one of his oldest friends or a completely random stranger, you can be assured that Grant was going to go out of his way to speak to you and try to put a smile on your face. He didn't do it because he was looking to get into politics or to sell you something; he did it because he wanted to be the kind of person who not only cared about others, but also made sure to show them in the far more important little ways rather than grand gestures. He loved purely, unconditionally, and with every fiber of his heart and soul. He'll never know how many lives he made better solely by asking them how they were doing, and that is, quite possibly the best legacy any of us could hope to leave behind in this world.

Grant was, obviously, a true extrovert in every sense of the word. He simply loved people and life was only good when you had good people in it. His infectious personality filled up every room he was in, and his easygoing demeanor made him one of the best coworkers or friends you could ever hope to have. That's why managing Subway was such a perfect fit for him for so many years because he was exactly the kind of person you want greeting your customers when they walk in the door. Besides, according to most of his customers, no one was ever going to be able to make you a better sandwich than he did, which only goes to prove that love really is the secret ingredient when it comes to preparing the best food! In his free time, there wasn't much Grant loved more than finding an excuse to spend time outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or just hanging out, as long as he had someone along for the ride, he was happy. His heart belonged to his baby girl though. There was no one he loved more than his beautiful daughter and nowhere he'd rather be than anywhere with his family and friends...or his faithful canine companions, Colt, Remington, and Hunter (no denying he was ALL country boy at heart, right?). He made all of their lives so much better and they all loved him back with everything they had. Lord knows 36 years was most assuredly not nearly enough time with Grant, but hopefully all of those who knew and loved him will look back on his legacy and remember to treat people with the same kindness, empathy, and good humor that Grant always displayed. There's certainly no better way to honor his memory or keep it alive for many more years to come.

Grant was preceded in death by his mother, Melissa Crews Brown; grandparents, Robert & Edith Crews, Leon Brown, and MaeDell (Lonnie) Weaver; aunt, JoAnn Thomas; and uncles, Billy Crews and Bobby Reeves. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Shaina Brown; father, Ricky Brown; sister, Kaitlan (Jonah) Phelps; nephew, Charlie Phelps; niece, Lucille Phelps; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family members, and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dennison Reeves, Keith Reeves, Jonah Phelps, Ryan Jones, Chris Holt, and Jake Beasley.
