Mr. Harold Anders Sorensen, 80, a resident of Rutledge, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Baptist Medical Center South after a courageous battle with COVID-19. A graveside service for Mr. Sorensen will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, September 9th, in Siloam Cemetery with Pastor Shari Miniard officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Sorensen proudly served his country with the United States Army and remained fiercely patriotic for the rest of his life. After his discharge, he went to work for the Army Air Force Exchange Services and continued with them until his retirement after 37 years. He moved his family from Dallas, Texas to Rutledge, Alabama in 1994 and became a beloved mainstay in his community as a great neighbor. He was a tender-hearted and kind man who was generous with everyone in his life. Mr. Sorensen was also a dedicated to his faith in the Lord and enjoyed the time he spent with his church. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family more than anything else in his life. They cherished his sense of humor over the years, and were strengthened by his constant prayers for them everyday. He will be missed by his loved one dearly, but they will continue to treasure the lifetime of memories they made together.

Mr. Sorensen was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Ruth Sorensen; parents, Christ Anders & Mary Elizabeth Scharf Sorensen; and brother, Charles Sorensen. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Debbie Johnson Sorensen; their children, Donald (Savannah) McClellan, Jason (Tiffany) Sorensen, Carla Campbell, Christy (Patrick) Bozeman, and Emily (Matthew) Hays; grandchildren, Shawna, Lane, Crissy, Courtney, Jessica, Katelyn, Taylor, Trynity, Camille, Austin, Parker, Kathryn, Claire, Andi, Blake, Jonathan, Annabelle, Jacob, Jordan, Gabby; and great-grandchildren, Lily, Maddie, Rylen, Gatlin, Chandler, Adley, Kyser, Adalyn, and Annie Jo.

Active pallbearers will be Patrick Bozeman, Matthew Hays, Christopher Hale, Dylan Green, Alton Bozeman, Ricky Bagents, and Alex Palomino.

Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
