Mrs. Mary Helen Ballard Benbow, 68, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. A graveside service for Mrs. Benbow will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, October 24, in Mt. Ida Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Jones officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Benbow was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She dedicated her life to caring for others. She spent almost 20 years working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation, where she also served as an anonymous angel, helping to provide for many who needed things. Such care and kindness has left a lasting impression on all who knew her, and is a shining example to the world for how Christians should act.
Mrs. Benbow was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Matthew Benbow; parents, I.D. and Alene Daniels Ballard; and three siblings, Patricia Gregory, Betty Coleman, and Kenny Ballard. She is survived by her two sons, Mark Benbow and Wayne Benbow; grandson, Alex Benbow; eight siblings, Edwina Mothershed, Shirley Black, Kay Wilkerson, June Nichols, Becky Rollins, Randy Ballard, Sue Dugger, and Jim Ballard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Pat Gregory, Russell Gregory, Jimmy Ballard, Roland Mothershed, Stacy Dugger, and Ivan Burton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:30 - 1:30 PM.
