Henry Hillman Durden, 71, a resident of Glenwood, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Troy Regional Medical Center on Thursday, June 5th, 2025. A celebration of Henry's life will be held at a later time.
If you knew Henry, you would swear that Lynyrd Skynyrd's song "Simple Man" was written about him. That's just who he was. He never put on airs or cared for the best and brightest. He found the joy in the simplest things in life, especially any activity that kept him in the great outdoors he loved so well from fishing and hunting to camping. He had a deep love for animals and was always generous with everyone he knew. In his free time, he loved expressing his creativity through woodworking or collecting antiques. Above all, he was a loving husband, stepfather, grandfather, and friend who will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Hillman & Florence Elmore Durden. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Fuller Simmons; stepchildren, Kelsey Furr and Tyler Furr; grandchildren, Isabella Sessions and Emorie Campbell; and several extended family members and friends.
