Holly LeAnne Clark Burkett, 40, a resident of Luverne, Alabama and formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024. At Holly's request, there will be no memorial service.
Holly was a native of Kansas City, which meant she had a deep, abiding love for the Kansas City Chiefs. There were few things better than when the Chiefs finally hit their big winning streak with the 2019-20 season and validating that love. Despite her medical struggles, Holly continued to passionately follow each and every season and still managed to celebrate their big win Sunday night! The only thing that surpassed her love of her hometown team was that for her husband and children. Holly considered being a phenomenal wife and mother to be her greatest calling in life, and she certainly exceeded all expectations in that regard. She met and married the love of her life, Josh, while they were still teenagers and defied the odds to build a wonderful and lasting relationship that could withstand all the slings and arrows life could possibly throw at them. They set a remarkable example for their children in what a true partnership looks like in a relationship.
Holly had a wicked sense of humor, which bolstered her throughout the trials and tribulations she dealt with. Lord knows life threw her far more curveballs than it does most, but she was blessed with a determined personality so, as steel is forged through fire, all of it only served to make her stronger. In her free time, Holly was an avid reader and movie buff, as well as a huge fan of the true crime genre. Of course, that was only when the Chiefs weren't playing! She certainly knew her own mind about things and enjoyed keeping a meticulous home for both her family and for hosting friends and extended family for get-togethers in better days...just don't ask her to cook! Above all, she was truly the greatest wife and mother her family could have every wished for. She meant the world to them as she was the rock their family was built upon. Words cannot possibly express how much she was loved, nor how much she will be missed. Holly has left this world far, far too soon, but her loved ones will turn for comfort to the legacy of love she leaves behind as she endures in their hearts and minds for many more years to come.
Holly is survived by her devoted husband of almost 20 years, Josh Burkett; their beloved children, Adam Robert Burkett and LeAnne Mae Burkett; her parents, Robert (Lois) Clark and Lesa Talbot; brother, Justin (Tara) Clark; and numerous extended family members and friends.
