Irma Nell Dozier

February 8, 1936 — June 2, 2026

Irma Nell Harper Dozier, 90, a resident of Cullman, Alabama and formerly of Dozier, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, June 9th, in Zion Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.

Irma took immense pride in creating and maintaining a loving family home and environment for her beloved husband Noel and their children. That love and sense of home of course transferred to the grandchildren, great, and great-great-grandchildren who would steal her heart completely. Never the social butterfly, Irma was always the more reserved type; shy, but always full of immense love for her ever-expanding family. Let's not forget she was also a wonderful sister who never ran out of love, or patience, with her "Baby Brother" Billy and his colorful antics. She was an irreplaceable part of all of their lives and they feel so very fortunate to have had her in their lives for nine decades!

No one could produce better southern staples from their kitchen like Irma could. Every Thanksgiving, there was no more popular dish on the menu than her cornbread dressing and the family will assure you that Irma's pecan pie would always take first prize against any competition in the country. In her free time, she loved keeping up with NASCAR and cheering on the Braves, but her favorite hobby was the romance novels which always kept her entertained. Irma also enjoyed traveling to different places and is one of the few people who truly took joy in the journey as much as she did the destination. That's a life lesson more of us need to take to heart. Above all, she was a truly devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to three generations of precious grandchildren who leaves behind a treasure trove of special memories which will allow her to live on in all their hearts and minds for many more years to come.

Irma was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Richard Noel Dozier; grandson, Daniel Dozier; her parents, Fred Omar & Fannie Mae Smith Harper; and siblings, Neal Harper, Helen Young, and Frances Stacks.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Toni) Dozier, Byron (Charlene) Dozier, Linda (Steve Miller) Dozier, and Allison (William) Riley; grandchildren, Phillip Dozier, Loren (Cayle) Maxwell, Adam (Tiffany) Dozier, Nicholas (Layla) Dozier, Brandon (Abbey) Dozier, Kristen (Robert) Van Giesen, Timothy (Christy) Johnson, Crystal Johnson, Sarah (Connor) Rebusmen, Brian Fountain, Maris (Chris) Stewart, Aaron Fountain, Rick (Chelsea) Riley, and Michelle Riley; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, William "Billy" (Susan) Harper; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
