Jack Pittman

Jack Pittman, 89, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Baptist Medical Center South on Friday, June 5th, 2026. A celebration of Jack's life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 23rd, in the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Brother Clay Crum officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing the service. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at the service time.

Jack spent most of his life working in the concrete industry with Stephens Concrete, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and reliability. A quiet and reserved man, he was a man of few words, but his kindness spoke volumes. Those who knew him often described him as "as good as gold."

Jack took great pride in his work and was deeply devoted to providing for his family. Outside of work, he enjoyed watching football, tending to his garden, and growing vegetables. He found joy in life's simple pleasures and was happiest when spending time outdoors.

Known lovingly as "Paw Paw" to his grandchildren, Jack was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His gentle nature, unwavering kindness, and steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Loved by everyone he met, he will be remembered for his humble spirit, hardworking nature, and the quiet way he made the world a better place for those around him.

Jack was preceded in death by his wives, Patricia Barr Pittman and Betty Pippin; granddaughters, Kimberly Hodson & Patricia Miller; great-grandson, Zander Powell; parents, William Angus & Mattie Lou Stephens Pittman; and siblings, Louise Smith, William Pittman, Joseph Pittman, and Mary Kate Pittman.

He is survived by his beloved daughters, Cynthia (Daniel) Summerall and Rhonda Pittman Smith (Eldade "Kirk" Kirkland); grandchildren, Kristy (Oscar) Flores, Patrick (Vickie) Smith, and Elise Smith; grandsons-in-law, Robbie Hodson & John Miller; great-grandchildren, Bryanna (Fernando) Crespo, Kevin Peters, Madelynn Dunn, Cydney Peters, Skylar Powell, and Jon Miller Jr; great-great-grandchildren, Patrick Smith, Emmitt Shearer, and Midna White; brother, Billy Pittman; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
