Jackie Johns

Mr. Billy J. “Jackie” Johns, 83, a longtime resident of Troy, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2020. A graveside service for Mr. Johns will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, January 5, in Darien Cemetery with Brother Stae Sanders officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Johns proudly served his country with the Army National Guard for 42 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. Mr. Johns also worked as the personal security guard for Mr. Wiley Sanders of Wiley Sanders Trucking for numerous years before he retired. He was well-known for his love of the outdoors. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be sorely missed by all those he leaves behind.

Mr. Johns was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mamie Garner Johns; four siblings, Mary Grace Johns, Louie Johns, Tab Johns, and Margaret Reeves; sister-in-law, Geraldine Johns; and brother-in-law, Tommy Cowles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judy Sexton Johns; their three children, Billy J. (Carllene) Johns Jr, Renae (Michael) Domizio, and Michael “Bo” (Marci) Johns; four grandchildren, Joni L. Johns, Joseph Domizio, Andrea (Allen) Maness, and Ella G. Johns; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Sam Maness; ten siblings, Frances (Doug) Messick, Ann Cowles, Lynn (Johnny) Tillery, Pat (James) Harrelson, Debra (William) Arthur, Connie (Jeff) Keithley, Pete (Corinne) Johns, Roy Johns, Danny Ray Johns, and Scott (Kathy) Johns; two sisters-in-law, Faye Johns and Cornelia Johns; brother-in-law, James Reeves; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Joseph Domizio, Tim Johns, Jamie Johns, Buddy Mehaffey, Todd Mehaffey, and Aubrey Reeves.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:30 - 2 PM.
