Jackie Devon Slawson

Mr. Jackie Devon Slawson, 68, a resident of Glenwood, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. Funeral services for Mr. Slawson will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 2, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Pastor Benjy Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Slawson proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He then spent much of his life as a long-haul trucker, traveling the country. In his spare time, he enjoyed writing music on his guitar and singing karaoke. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, whose family will greatly miss the joy and laughter he brought to their lives.

Mr. Slawson was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Ellis and Lela Audrey Cook Slawson, and his sister, Audrey Twinette Campbell. He is survived by his loving wife, Annie Snell; two children, Jason (Misty) Slawson and Leslie (Brian) Caldwell; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Curtis Slawson, Wayne Slawson, Onie Merle Dunn, Sheila Nelson, and Bobbie Jean Hammett.

Active pallbearers will be Jason Slawson, Seyth Snell, Barry Reeves, Elvis McSheridan, Jeffery McSheridan, and Billy Snell. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 1, from 6 - 8 PM.
