James Harold Desedare

September 30, 1947 — February 23, 2024

Luverne

James Harold Desedare Sr, 76, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly in Highland Home, Alabama on Friday, February 23rd, 2024. A graveside service for James will be held at 2 PM on Monday, February 26th, in Ivy Creek Cemetery with Rev. Ruby Beck officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.

James proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict in the late 1960s. After his tour was complete, he was honorably discharged and returned to his native Alabama, where he became a truck driver in multiple industries over the years. Throughout his life, James was quite a character, and most definitely one of a kind. In his free time, he loved exploring the Caribbean on various cruises, and he was known to try his hand at various games of chance over the years. He was also a huge NASCAR fan, particularly of the late, great Dale Earnhardt. When he wasn't watching a race, it was a safe bet his TVs were going to be tuned to the GRIT channel with his favorite Westerns to keep him entertained. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, "Paw Paw" to his grandchildren, and "Old Paw Paw" to his precious great-grandchildren. He cherished every moment he was able to spend with all of them during his life, and they will carry his memory close to their hearts for many more years to come.

James was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Larcie Mitchell Desedare; three precious grandchildren; and his parents, James Donald Desedare & Rosemary Stewart (Bob) Gibbons. He is survived by his children, James (Jennifer) Desedare Jr, Mary (John) Weaver, and Phillip (Vicki) Desedare, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be John Weaver III, John Weaver IV, Cody Weaver, Matthew Desedare, Nathan Desedare, and Kent Perritt.
