James Howard Furr, 81, a resident of Honoraville, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, July 31st, 2025. A celebration of James's life will be held at a later time.
James spent his professional career working to install insulation in the construction business. At home, he always enjoyed catching Westerns on TV, even if he had seen them a hundred times. He was always up for a good arrowhead hunt or finding a great fishing spot to drop a line in. And, you could bet he'd be tagging along anytime you wanted to go to a gun show! While he always had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life fully, he was also a homebody who often enjoyed his own company, but he did enjoy whenever the family he loved visited him. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be sorely missed by all those who loved him so dearly.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, Lena Mae McCartha Furr; their son, James Daniel Furr; parents, Owen Curtis & Bessie Mae Beasley Furr; and all of his siblings. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Howard Furr; children, Teresa (Steve) Trammell, Stanley (Leanne) Furr, Stacy Furr, Tracy Furr, Tabatha Furr; grandchildren, Bubba Morgan, Marie (Wayne) Edgar, Jonnie (Michael) Lloyd, Chelsea Pruitt, Kodi Rhodes, Caitlin Furr, Austin Pruitt, Jeremiah Tidwell, and Ellie Nutt; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
