James Emmett Mitchell, Sr.

MITCHELL, Mr. James Emmett, 61, a resident of Brantley, AL died Friday February 8, 2013. Funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday February 10, 2013 at Sasser Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. James was an active member of the Crenshaw County Cattleman’s Association and when his children were in high school he was involved in the Alabama High School Rodeo Association, 4H, little league football coach, and the high school athletic program. Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett R. and Willie Christine Mitchell. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Barbara Moses Mitchell; four children, Taisha (Bubba) Dunn, Jamie (Brock) Nutter, Kasey (TJ) Hall, and James E.”Flop” (Abby) Mitchell, Jr.; ten grandchildren; three sisters, Rae Mitchell, Diane Mitchell, and Tim (Scotty) Cain; and one brother, Kenneth (Judy) Mitchell. Active pallbearers will be Kris Cain, Sammy Noblin, John Perrett, Larry Mitchell, James "Jimbo" Hogg, Phillip Norris, Stallion Sasser, Kenneth Mitchell and Johnny Smith.The family will receive friends Saturday February 9, 2013 at his mothers residence, 14048 Dozier Highway, Brantley, AL 36009, from 6 pm until 8 pm.The body will lie-in-state at the church Sunday for one hour prior to service time.
