James Curtis Petrey

PETREY, Rev. James Curtis, 76, a resident of Petrey, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, April 10, at South Luverne Baptist Church with Dr. Sam Tate, Mr. Newton Guerry, and Rev. Ron Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Petrey Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Rev. Petrey was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Loyce and Susie Petrey, brother, Walter Lawrence Petrey, and sister, Annie Loyce Petrey Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Williams Petrey, four children, Perry (Liv Amor) Petrey, James Curtis “Jim” Petrey, Jr., Susan Petrey (Conrad) Carriker, and Bert Petrey, thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two brothers, John Walter (Betty) Petrey and Joe Bradley (Cheryl) Petrey. Active pallbearers will be John Petrey, Franco Petrey, Joshua Petrey, P.J. Petrey, Tommy Petrey, and William Petrey. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Thursday morning Bible study/breakfast meeting at the South Luverne Baptist Church. The family requests any memorial donations be made to the American Family Association, P.O. Box 2440, Tupelo, Mississippi, 38803, South Luverne Baptist Church, or to one’s favorite charity. They will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1 – 2:30pm.
