James Rhodes

Mr. James Rhodes, 62, a resident of Rutledge, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, October 1st, 2022. Funeral services for Mr. Rhodes will be held at 2 PM on Friday, October 7th, at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship with Rev. Steve Defee and Rev. Dunford Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Rhodes proudly served his country with both the United States Navy and the Alabama National Guard. He spent most of his working career as a truck driver delivering cars to various dealerships. He also worked security at both the Crenshaw and Pike County Courthouses where he enjoyed interacting with all of the various people who came through the doors everyday. In his free time, he thoroughly enjoyed spending time outdoors either fishing or in other activities. He was a faithful Christian and often filled in as a lay speaker at Methodist churches in the area. Saturdays in the Fall, you could most often find him cheering on the Auburn Tigers in college football. Above all, he was a devoted family man who cherished all of them as the most priceless treasure in his world, especially his beloved grandsons. Words cannot properly express how much he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by his parents, Billy G. & Margaret Whiddon Rhodes. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Karen Defee Rhodes; his children, Justin (Kodi) Rhodes and Kattie (Cliff) Stallworth; grandsons, Jon Edward Rhodes and Jensin Rhodes; siblings, Becky Norton, Rhonda Peters, Gordon (Lynn) Rhodes, and Rhoda Stout; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Carnell Wilson, Mike Beck, Billy Crumpton, Allen Coggins, Larry Gaston, and Stanley Defee.
