Jane Taylor Byrd

October 20, 1930 — December 30, 2012

Jane Taylor Byrd
On December 30, 2012 in a room filled with love, surrounded by her family, Jane Taylor Byrd was welcomed home by her son Kenneth Byrd, her beloved husband Gene Byrd and her parents Obie C. and Nina B. Taylor who passed before her, and her lord and savior Jesus Christ. Jane leaves to cherish her memories, daughter Karen (Larry Brasier), her grandsons who lifted her spirits with a simple, 'Know what granny?', Aaron Schuller, Jamie and Evan McCutchen. When her daughter and grandsons walk away today, they carry a piece of her soul with them, and as Jane begins her new journey she carries a piece of them with her.
Jane Taylor was born in Crenshaw County on October 20th, 1930. She spent her life educating our elementary school children, working hard politically to leave us all a better world. A member of our nation's greatest generation, she survived a great depression, watched as man walked on the moon for the first time, witnessed the birth of the computer age, and has finally completed the journey to her eternal home. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Services will be held at Joquin Baptist Church, her home for many years, on Thursday, January 3rd, at 2:00 p.m, led by Pastor Phil Boyles. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 12:30pm until service time.
