SENTELL, Dr. Jane Elizabeth Jones, formerly of Montgomery, Alabama, and the widow of James Oscar (J.O.) Sentell, died Friday, February 20, 2015 in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 101. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Luverne United Methodist Church in Luverne, Al with Rev. Ken Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Dr. Sentell, born on October 18, 113, in Choctaw County, Alabama, was a classroom teacher and after receiving her Ph.D., was a college professor. She was recognized for her work in the humanities, social studies, music, and Latin American Studies.
Survivors are Dr. Sentell’s three children: daughter, Jane Preiss (George) of Little Rock, Arkansas; son, James Sentell of Opelika, Alabama; and son, Edgar Sentell (Barbara) of Madison, Mississippi. She has eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
