Janet Dorman Lester

LESTER, Mrs. Janet Dorman, 82, a resident of Goshen, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016. Funeral services for Mrs. Lester will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, August 21, at Glenwood Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Johnson, Rev. Sam Tate, Rev. Mike Thomas, and Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery in Glenwood, Alabama, with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Lester was preceded in death by her husband, Lincoln H. Lester and their infant son, her parents, George and Frances Dorman, and two brothers, Oliver Dorman and Webster Dorman. She is survived by seven children, Larry (Debbie) Lester, Ronnie Lester, Virginia Beasley, Lonnie (Holley) Lester, Tony (Wyvonne) Lester, Lynn (Jerry) Engram, and Patty (Curtis) Rushing, sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, sister, Mary (Curtis) Slawson, and brother, James (Dot) Dorman. The family requests that any memorial donations be made to Providence Cemetery, c/o Mr. Wayne Gibson, Glenwood, Alabama. Her grandsons will serve as active pallbearers: David Lester, Jason Lester, Greg Lester, Nolan Beasley, Mylan Beasley, Davis Lester, Jeremy Engram, Bobby Phillips, and Bryant Rushing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 20, from 5 – 7pm. Mrs. Lester will lie-in-state at the church on Sunday for 30 minutes prior to the service at 2 PM.
