Jason Adam Bowen

April 7, 1981 — July 4, 2024

Luverne

Jason Adam Bowen, 43, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away in a motor vehicle accident on Thursday, July 4th, 2024. Funeral services for Jason will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 10th, at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Mason Halacker officiating. Interment will follow in Panola Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service.

Jason, affectionately known to so many as "J-Bo," had two passionate loves in his life, sports and his family. As a proud member of the Class of 1999 at Highland Home High School, he was a cherished part of both the football and baseball teams. That love of sports would follow him for the rest of his life, whether it was rooting for his favorite college and professional teams or his own children's teams. Bear in mind, when I say Jason was an ardent Alabama fan, I do not mean just football. If Bama played it, you can bet Jason was going to be watching and cheering them on to victory. And no one knew stats about football and baseball like he did, especially when it came to Alabama and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Some of his favorite sports moments, however, were those he shared with his children as he helped coach all three in baseball or softball and loved every second he got to make a difference in both their lives and the lives of their teammates. Without a doubt, however, Jason's absolute favorite athletes were named Jacob, Jackson, and Hadleigh, and the many memories they built together in between all the practices and games are priceless treasures now.

Jason was also generous to a fault. He was well known for always being willing to give the shirt off of his back to whomever needed it. He was famous for all of the good food that he could both cook and grill, and he always made sure to share it with all those he could. He was a born extrovert who not only enjoyed talking to people, but just enjoyed people in general. He was blessed with an open and loving heart that endeared him to literally everyone who knew him and all of them counted themselves fortunate to call him either family or friend, especially those friends who were like family. Jason also had a phenomenal sense of humor and a knack for making just about anything done together fun. He was the kind of person who knew when you needed a smile, a little joke, or a hug just to get you through the day. What a remarkable gift to possess and simply a remarkable person all the way around. Words cannot possibly capture just how important he was to all those who knew and loved him so very much, nor how much he will be missed by all of them. Hopefully, the example he set through his kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity will continue to live on in all of the lives he touched over the years.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wiley & Jeanette Giddens and Fletcher & Doris Bowen. He is survived by the love of his life, his spouse of 18 years, Heather Norman Bowen; their beloved children, Jacob Parker Bowen, Jackson David Bowen, and Hadleigh Anne Bowen; his parents, Parker & Tanja Giddens Bowen; brother, Jonathan (Nicole) Bowen; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Brad Horn, Clay Hamm, Kevin Brown, Sonny Little, Clint Rogers, Tim Lutz, Jason "Smitty" Smith, and Justin Vincitore. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Bowen and Sam Welch.
