Elba

Arkie Jason "Jaybo" Price, 57, a resident of Elba, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, while surrounded by his family. Funeral services for Jaybo will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, August12th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Milten officiating. Interment will follow in Zoar Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service time.

Jaybo was the definition of main character energy! He was so lively with his gift for gab, love of people, and dry sense of humor that he kinda brought the party wherever he went. And don't get this avid Auburn fan started on the Auburn v. Alabama rivalry!!! He would even argue with his sister, Barbara, about that topic, and she was usually the only person he wouldn't argue with. Oh yeah, Jaybo liked to "emphasis" (i.e. argue) his point in any conversation so he could keep you on your toes. Probably didn't help that he was about as strong-willed as they come, but it was always done in good humor and with love in his heart. Truly, once Jaybo loved you, he always loved you. There's true security and faith in the knowledge you can never lose someone's love, no matter what, and that was valued more than gold with his family.

Jaybo was a great mechanic and worked for the City of Elba for many years, You could bet you would always find him tinkering with something around the house too as he liked to stay busy. He also loved tending to his garden, which produced some outstanding watermelons, and his little batch of chickens he raised himself. Music, especially the classics like Elvis, was a love he shared with his daughter...though in truth, he might've favored her husband Adam a little bit more (and he always called shotgun when they all rode together)! Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and "PawPaw Jason" to his cherished grandchildren. He also stayed close with his own siblings and their children. He was the rock his family was built upon, especially to his wife Sherry, and he meant more to them than could possibly be captured in words. Jaybo has left them far too soon, but he will be long remembered for the love and laughter they shared, and the best bear hugs you could ever receive!

Jaybo was preceded in death by his parents, Alpha Leon & Sybil Gaynell Best Price; sister, Karen Lathem Price; and brother-in-law, Gerald White. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sherry Bowden Price; children, Nikki Price (Adam) Blocker and Dustin (Kaitlyn) Williams; grandchildren, Lily Blocker, Chloe Blocker, Laine Williams, and Rowan Williams; siblings, Barbara White, Gary (Lisa) Price, Bobby (Patricia) Price, Winona Gentry, Sharon (Lee) Gideon, & Tony (Wendy) Price; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Adam Blocker, Lee Gideon, DeWayne Price, Leon Gideon, Chris White, Jayce Faulk, Landon Hayden, and Tim White.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to ACG Hospice of Alabama for their loving care of Jaybo, as well as the help of his niece, Katie Jacobs. They would also like to give a special thanks to his father-in-law, Doug Bowden, and sister-in-law, Pam Strassburg, for loving him just like he was blood, as well as the best friend he loved like a sister, Mary Alice Wilkerson, for being such a great help and support to both Jaybo and Sherry.
