Mr. Jerry Lomax Chandler, 77, a resident of Opp, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Mizell Memorial Hospital in Opp on Thursday, December 1st, 2022.
Jerry spent most of his working career traveling the roads as a truck driver. In his free time, he loved few things more than spending time outside, whether it was hunting and fishing or working in his garden. All of these activities he usually did with the love of his life, his wife Evelyn, by his side. He also enjoyed running hunting dogs in his younger days. Jerry had a remarkable sense of humor as well, a trait he cherished because he inherited it from his father. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who simply adored his family and every moment they were able to spend together.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Felix & Essie Estelle Nelson Chandler, and sisters, Edna Duncan and Onamerle Hudson. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyn Wood Chandler; their daughters, Melissa Williamson and Rena Henderson; grandchildren, Josh (Ashley) Pierce, Krista (Jeffery) Nowling, Ashley Pickron, and Sarah Henderson; great-grandchildren, Abby, Cassady, Madi, Blakely, Emma Kate, Mikayla, Isaiah, Weston, and Destin; brothers, Lawrence Chandler and William Chandler; and several nieces & nephews.
A memorial service for Jerry has not yet been scheduled.
