Mr. Jerry Paul Jackson, 68, a resident of Dozier, Alabama, passed away at River Valley Health & Rehabilitation in Blountstown, Florida on Thursday, November 17th, 2022. A graveside service for Paul will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, November 22nd, in Oak Grove Cemetery in Dozier with Brother Jeff Grimes officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:30 - 1 PM.
Paul proudly served his country with the United States Army, spending most of that time stationed in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge, Paul wound up working in the trucking business for many years. He also enjoyed working with electronics, even earning his First Class FCC license in radio engineering. In his free time, Paul enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, especially while fishing. He also had an abiding love for the classic rock anthems of his younger days. He was a huge football fan. He played the position of running back while at Dozier High School, and was a lifelong long fan of the New York Jets, Alabama Crimson Tide, and his heroes, Bear Bryant and Joe Namath.
Paul was a particularly unique individual. You might initially find him to be rather reserved, but once you knew him you learned to appreciate his warmth and sharp wit. He loved to entertain both his family and friends, especially to show off his adeptness with a BBQ grill. Above all, he was a cherished son, brother, and uncle who truly loved his family. He will be missed beyond measure, but his family will find comfort both in a lifetime of memories and the knowledge that he is now whole in spirit.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Leonard & Mary Lou Williamson Jackson, and his brother, Robert Wayne Jackson. He is survived by his siblings, Ronnie C. Jackson, Doris (Michael) Hoffman, Randy L. (Wanda) Jackson, and Melissa (Danny) Powell; nieces, Jennifer Hoffman, Lori Clements, Sara Jackson, and Kelsey Corley; nephew, Jamie Powell; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
