Jimmie Wayne Rogers Sr

Mr. Jimmie Wayne Rogers Sr, 78, a resident of Grady, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Jackson Hospital surrounded by his family. Funeral services for Mr. Rogers will be held at 2 PM on Monday, December 20th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Parker Bowen, Rev. Steve Carson, and Rev. Jeremy Hendrick officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Mount Cemetery in Highland Home with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Rogers proudly served his country with the United States Army. After his discharge, he spent most of his working career in the Civil Service until his retirement. He had a musician's heart, and loved playing his guitar while singing his favorite gospel songs. He was a humble, selfless man, who had an open, loving personality that meant he never truly met a stranger and was beloved by all who knew him. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, but spending time with his family was always his number one priority. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who valued his family as his most treasured possession. They all loved him back just as much, and he will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie & Arvie Ruth McDowell Rogers. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 59 years, Brenda Hickox Rogers; their children, Jimmie (Stefanie) Rogers Jr, Shauna (Steve) Jackson, David (Kim) Rogers, and Missy Rogers; grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Welch, Taylor (Charlie) Stone, Meagan (Scott) White, Rebecca Wallace, Drew (Nikki) Rogers, and Sydney (Dylan) Chamblee; 7 great-grandchildren with one more on the way; siblings, JoAnn (Grady) Owens, Buddy (Irene) Rogers, Sherry (Johnny) Jackson, and Travis (Charlie) Rogers; and numerous nieces & nephews.

Active pallbearers will be David Rogers, Drew Rogers, Hal McGhee, Billy Rogers, Donnie Rogers, and Scott White. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Jackson and Jimmie Rogers Jr.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1 - 2 PM.
