Mr. Jimmy "Jim" Carl Bees, 58, a resident of Rutledge, Alabama, passed away suddenly in a motor vehicle accident on Friday, February 4th, 2022. Funeral services for Jim will be held at 2 PM on Monday, February 7th, from the Chapel at Turners Funeral Home with Brother Clay Crum, Pastor Justin Bradley, and Rev. David Noble officiating. Interment will follow in Centenary Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1 - 2 PM.
Jim was a proud graduate of Luverne High School and a lifelong resident of Crenshaw County. He was "country" to the root of his soul, and could not have been prouder of it. There were few things he loved more than spending his free time outside either hunting or fishing. Outside of his beloved outdoor activities, he also had other talents and interests that he enjoyed. On Saturdays in the Fall, you could most definitely find him cheering on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide to championships. However, nothing matched the importance of his family to him. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who opened his heart and home to so many. His outsized personality endeared him to all who knew him, and the hole his passing leaves behind in the lives of those he loved is enormous, however they are comforted by all of the life, laughter, and stories that will keep his memory alive for many, many years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Carlie & Dorothy Acreman Bees, and brother, Leslie Glen Bees. He is survived by his loving & patient wife of 36 years, Patty Atkinson Bees; their children, Laken (Orin) Warrick, Laura Bees, and Nicholas (Lauren) Atkinson; grandchildren, Carlie Ann Hammonds, Logan Warrick, Henlie Hammonds, Declan Warrick, Owen Atkinson, Layden Warrick, and Madison Atkinson; siblings, Jenise Gardner and Rhonda Bees; and numerous other family members and friends that became family.
Active pallbearers will be Jasper Crittenden, Jeremy Kilpatrick, Hunter DeVoss, Joey Carpenter, Chip Black, Russ Wilkerson, Corey Latham, and LaVon Bees, while Jessie Gregory will serve as a honorary pallbearer.
