Jimmy Michael Dean, 62, a resident of Dozier, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2025, while surrounded by his family. Funeral services for Mike will be held at 2 PM on Monday, July 7th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in Dozier Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mike was, without a doubt, one of the best people you could hope to know. He had a great attitude and a special way with people to make everyone feel at home in his presence. That kind of gift only comes when you genuinely love people and show them how much you care about them. That made him a great coworker at places like Dozier Sewing Factory, CMS, and Sikorsky. It also made him a great and irreplaceable friend, as his own dear friend, Bob Simmons, could attest to given their wonderful friendship over many years. In his free time, he loved spending time outdoors, especially when it came to being on the water, or building things with his own two hands.
Anyone who knew Mike also knew that his grandchildren were his heart and soul. He was always a devoted husband and father, but the little ones who named him "Papa" were the best part of his life and himself. There was nothing he'd rather be doing than spending time with his family and friends. Mike was truly the bedrock foundation of his beloved family and community and they all loved him back as ferociously as they received his own love, care, and protection over the years. Words simply cannot do him justice, nor fully express how sorely he will be missed after too few years on this earth. However he will continue to live on in the treasured memories they all made together as they carry him with them throughout their lives.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Hilrey Dean and Edna Messick Boutwell. He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Helen H. Dean; children, Michelle (Rick) Wunsh, Dusty (Courtney) Dean; Faith (Devaris) Dean, and Justin (Misti) Mitchell; grandchildren, Carson Frazier, Olivia Wunsh, Reese Dean, Rylan Dean, Paetyn Merriwether, Ellie Mitchell, and Daisykate Wunsh; siblings, Linda (Donnie) Greer, Carlos "Buddy" (Grace) Dean, Will Dean, and Cathy (Robert) Canant; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Tony Greer, Dennis Hodge, Kevin Dean, Mark Jordan, Trey Morgan, and Robert Coleman.
