No one better epitomized the title of social butterfly than Jo Ann. You could be assured that everywhere she was, she was going to be the life of the party. She could entertain anyone, and fits of laughter could often be heard at any party she hosted. And oh, did she love to host parties! Her pool and home were always available to family and friends, and a good time was definitely always guaranteed. Also, if the music was playing, you best believe she was going to be dancing! Jo Ann was extremely passionate about whatever she loved, whether it was playing golf or working in her yard, and if you needed a partner for a beach trip, you could count on her. She also absolutely adored her circle of friends who brought so much joy to her life.
Jo Ann worked as an administrative assistant for multiple departments with the State of Alabama until her retirement. In her youth, she was a terrific softball player and continued to love the sport throughout her life. She also enjoyed working with various craft projects in her special Craft Room in her home. As an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, she would not stand for disparaging remarks about her favorite team or coach. Most importantly, Jo Ann was a kind and compassionate person. Just being around her could brighten anyone's day and she'll never know how many lives she made better just by being in them. Above all, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who truly cherished her family as her greatest blessing. Her home and heart were always open to them, and she was their constant rock through difficult times. The world is a little less joyous without her in it, but her loved ones will find comfort in the lifetime of wonderful memories they made together.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Heather Thomas; great-granddaughter, Falyn Jones; parents, Melvin Oneal & Mae Dell Register Reeves; and brother, Bobby Reeves. She is survived by her adoring husband of almost 55 years, John W. Thomas; their daughter, Alison Thomas Kirby; grandchildren, Laken (Ryan) Jones, Hayden (Julia) Kirby, and Greyson Kirby; great-grandchildren, Rylen & River Jones; and brother, Ricky Brown.
Active pallbearers will be Keith Reeves, Dennison Reeves, Aubrey Reeves, Lee Reeves, Greyson Kirby, and Hayden Kirby.
