MCCARTHY, Mrs. Joann Godwin, 61, a resident of Luverne, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 2 PM from Turner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Rutledge Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. McCarthy is preceded in death by her father, Joe Godwin and brother, Kenneth D. Godwin. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Elbert J. McCarthy; two children, Wayne(Becky) McCarthy and Karen(Mark) Morgan; five grandchildren, Alicia and David Powell, John Dale(Melinda) Bender, Mathew Bender and Shann Bender; two great grandchildren, Marie Bender and John Dillon Bender; two sisters, Jeanette Williams and Connie(John) Wood; two brothers, Ollie(Marilyn) Godwin and Jackie(Debbie) Godwin; and mother, Annie Ruth Godwin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 PM.
