Obituary

Joann Owens Mullins, 83, a resident of Greenville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Crowne Healthcare of Montgomery on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026. A graveside service for Joann will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, February 14th, in Chapel Hill Cemetery with Dexter Jackson & Tamekie Washington offering eulogies and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.

Joann grew up with a very strong work ethic that she maintained throughout her life. Alongside her late husband, Wayne Mullins, Joann spent many years farming and operating chicken houses. Together they built not only a livelihood, but a life rooted in commitment and perseverance. She took great pride in the work they shared and in the home they created.

Joann loved people and truly never met a stranger. Whether she was in the grocery store or a clothing store, she found joy in striking up conversations and lending a helping hand. She had a gift for making others feel seen and valued. Often, she would simply start talking to someone new, because in her words, "Nanny loves to talk." Her warmth and friendliness left lasting impressions on everyone she encountered.

There was nothing Joann wouldn't do for those she loved-and to her, that was everyone who crossed her path. Her generosity of spirit, never-ending kindness, and unwavering devotion to both her family and friends were lessons which she imprinting on the family she loved so well. Above all, Joann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly. Her life was a beautiful example of dedication, hard work, and unconditional love. Joann's legacy of love, faithfulness, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Joann was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, George Wayne Mullins, and her parents, Joe & Mary Whiddon Owens. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mona Mullins & Anthony Gregory; her grandsons, Chris Jackson and Dexter (Tasondra) Jackson; her great-grandson, Dylan Jackson; her sister, Mary Alice Simpkins; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Rolling.
