Joanne Holmes Gaines

Mrs. Joanne Holmes Gaines, 72, a resident of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and formerly of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2019. A graveside service for Mrs. Gaines will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 13, in Brantley Cemetery with Rev. Keith Price officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Gaines was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. In her spare time, she loved gardening and her flowers, and was quite skilled at making clothes for her family and others. Above all, she was a dedicated Christian woman who loved God. Her favorite people in the world were her granddaughters, who she doted on constantly. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, but they take comfort in the fact that she has gone to be with her Lord in Heaven.

Mrs. Gaines was preceded in death by her parents, James T. Holmes and Ruby M. Holley, and two brothers, Billy Wayne Holmes and Mickey Daniel Holmes. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Bobby Gaines; their two daughters, Tina Gaines Wood and Lisa Gaines (Eddie) Sewell; four granddaughters, Kayla Sewell, Brianna Sewell, Savanna Wood, and Shellie Wood; and two siblings, Sylvia (Jerry) Ryals and Michael Holmes (Becky Arrindale).

Active pallbearers will be Jim Wood, Eddie Sewell, Nick Gaines, Lamar Battles, Jerry Ryals, and Charles Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Gaines and Justin Bradley.

Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at service time.
