John Manning Hollis, Jr.

HOLLIS, Mr. John M. “Johnny”, Jr., 68, a resident of Luverne, AL died Monday, June 18, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from Centenary Assembly of God Church with Rev. David Wooten, Rev. Joey Smith, Rev. Robert Carter, and Ashley Kilcrease officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Hollis is preceded in death by his son, Mykel Manning Hollis, and his parents, John M. & Mary Nell Stokes Hollis, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janice McCartha Hollis; his daughter and son-in-law, Jae Megan and Ben Fox; his granddaughter, Manning DeLaney Fox; and three sisters, Tula (Dennie) Bludsworth, Mary Sybil (Elton) Mitchell, and Margaret (Walter) Folmar. Active pallbearers will be Hansel Stricklin, Taylor Kilcrease, Ben Smith, Willie Smith, Ricky Linton, and Wayne Blackmon. Honorary pallbearers include former members of the Centenary and Playmaker softball teams.The family will receive friends at Centenary Assembly of God Church on Tuesday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm. Mr. Hollis will lie in state for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
